STILL SAVING SOULS
Derby Girls Blog interviews Uncle Leon.
"'Uncle Leon' of Uncle Leon and the Alibis, is about as badass as you would expect him to be..."
Oh, those ladies over at derbygirlsblog.com are way too kind.
Check out this latest interview, in which Leon rants about the state of the modern music industry, the pitfalls of being almost famous, and the joys of Jell-O shots.
YAY EVELYN!

Thanks to everyone who came out to support our #1 fan!
Our longtime friend and fan, Evelyn McCue, just had cancer surgery. To help her with all her financial needs while she's recovering, her friends threw her a big ol' fundraiser.
Uncle Leon was proud to be a part of it. We'd like to send a huge "thank you" out to everyone who helped make this night happenincluding our former drummer and bartender extraordinaire Baby Mariaand of course all the fans, new and old, who showed up and parted so generously with their hard-earned money. Thank you!
"ROLLER DERBY SAVED MY SOUL" THE STAGE PLAY PREMIERES AT OTTAWA FRINGE FESTIVAL
As many of you know, we have a song called "Roller Derby Saved My Soul". Since its humble birth in 2006, the songand its titlehave taken on a life of their own. Not only has it been used in quite a few films and videos; it's also popped up in artwork, a tattoo, and at least one very serious religious commentary.
And most recently, it's been "stolen borrowed homaged" by playwright Nancy Kenny for her new one-woman show, titledyou guessed it"Roller Derby Saved My Soul". The live theatrical performance, which apparently involves roller derby and vampires, made its world premiere at the Ottawa Fringe Festival on June 17th. And we're relieved to report that it's already getting good reviews.
Check out Nancy (and her kickass tank top) on "Ottawa Tonite":
You can read much more about Nancy, her show, and her very visceral reaction to our "Baby Got Back" video in this nice little interview.
WE'VE GOT A NEW LIVE ALBUM!
Uncle Leon and the Alibis are proud to announce the release of their brand new live album, That's My Shit!
Recorded in one rowdy night during the 2010 Brooklyn Country Music Festival, That's My Shit! captures the drunken insanity of the sold-out midnight crowd, the infamous onstage rantings of Uncle Leon, and the raw energy of the band at the top of their game.
This is, quite simply, the next best thing to seeing Uncle Leon and the Alibis live in concert.
To celebrate this momentous occasion, we are giving away this album. For FREE.
That's right. Download as many songs as you want.

BACK IN THE NEW YORK GROOVE
After 2 weeks and about 4,000 miles, the van still runs and the band's still speaking. In other words, our summer tour was a smashing succcess. We would like to send a big, fat Febreze-y thank you out to everyone who helped make this trip such a great time.
And to celebrate our triumphant return, Uncle Leon and the Alibis will be playing at New York City's own Rodeo Bar on Sunday, July 25th.
For those of you who haven't seen us in a while, you're in for a big surprise. And to everyone who keeps begging us to play a Manhattan show: This is your night to come out and shine. (Or forever shut your mouth about it.) And it's FREE!

WE'VE GOT A NEW SONG!
From Left: Rat-A-Tat Kat, GalXC, Swede Hurt, Uncle Leon, Margaret Thrasher, Sweet Sherry Pie, and Brigitte Barhot. It's been a long time in the making, but now, finally, Uncle Leon and the Alibis are proud to announce the birth of our brand new roller derby song, Rollin' with a Rollergirl.
Thanks to TJ Swan, of New York City's inimitable Velvet Swan Recording studio, for all his patience, hard work, and truly kickass collection of vintage equipment. (We like the monkeys, too.)
Also, we'd like to give a very special shout out to the members of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby who took the time to come in and lay down the song's distinctive background vocals: Brigitte Barhot, GalXC, Margaret Thrasher, Rat-A-Tat Kat, Swede Hurt, and Sweet Sherry Pie. Thank you, ladies. Your part made the song!

WE GOT A NEW ALIBI!

It is with great sadness that we announce the departure of our drummer, the one and only Miss Natalie Mustang. She was a musical dream come true. But alas, the ugly forces of time and schedule conflicts swept in and stole her away from us, way too soon. Natalie, keep in touch, and don't stop smiling.
And now, the good news...
After an exhaustive search, in which we auditioned, interviewed and ran background checks on millions (well okay, dozens... well okay, a couple) of eager applicants, we are thrilled to announce the debut of our newest--and first-ever male--drummer, Dave Varriale.
Dave also plays with the outrageous burlesque-a-billy outfit AM Preacher, and teaches drum lessons. Rumor has it he's also down with the L.A. Derby Dolls. Drop by his page and say hi, and get ready to be impressed with him at the next Uncle Leon and the Alibis show.
