BACK IN THE NEW YORK GROOVE

After 2 weeks and about 4,000 miles, the van still runs and the band's still speaking. In other words, our summer tour was a smashing succcess. We would like to send a big, fat Febreze-y thank you out to everyone who helped make this trip such a great time.

And to celebrate our triumphant return, Uncle Leon and the Alibis will be playing at New York City's own Rodeo Bar on Sunday, July 25th.

For those of you who haven't seen us in a while, you're in for a big surprise. And to everyone who keeps begging us to play a Manhattan show: This is your night to come out and shine. (Or forever shut your mouth about it.) And it's FREE!

For complete details, check out our Events page.

BROOKLYN COUNTRY MUSIC FEST

Uncle Leon and the Alibis are proud to once again be a part of the Brooklyn Country Music Festival.

This homegrown Brooklyn institution, now in its 7th year, is the single greatest NYC country music event of the year.

We perform on Saturday, September 11th. And, in keeping with tradition, we are once again playing the coveted midnight "crazy slot". If you were there in 2007--or if you've just heard the infamous live version of "I Hate My Job"--then you know what we're talking about.

This event WILL sell out. Get your tickets now!

A limited number of 3-day passes are also available.

WE'VE GOT A NEW SONG!

From Left: Rat-A-Tat Kat, GalXC, Swede Hurt, Uncle Leon, Margaret Thrasher, Sweet Sherry Pie, and Brigitte Barhot.

It's been a long time in the making, but now, finally, Uncle Leon and the Alibis are proud to announce the birth of our brand new roller derby song, Rollin' with a Rollergirl.

Thanks to TJ Swan, of New York City's inimitable Velvet Swan Recording studio, for all his patience, hard work, and truly kickass collection of vintage equipment. (We like the monkeys, too.)

Also, we'd like to give a very special shout out to the members of the Gotham Girls Roller Derby who took the time to come in and lay down the song's distinctive background vocals: Brigitte Barhot, GalXC, Margaret Thrasher, Rat-A-Tat Kat, Swede Hurt, and Sweet Sherry Pie. Thank you, ladies. Your part made the song!

WE GOT A NEW ALIBI!

It is with great sadness that we announce the departure of our drummer, the one and only Miss Natalie Mustang. She was a musical dream come true. But alas, the ugly forces of time and schedule conflicts swept in and stole her away from us, way too soon. Natalie, keep in touch, and don't stop smiling.

And now, the good news...

After an exhaustive search, in which we auditioned, interviewed and ran background checks on millions (well okay, dozens... well okay, a couple) of eager applicants, we are thrilled to announce the debut of our newest--and first-ever male--drummer, Dave Varriale.

Dave also plays with the outrageous burlesque-a-billy outfit AM Preacher, and teaches drum lessons. Rumor has it he's also down with the L.A. Derby Dolls. Drop by his page and say hi, and get ready to be impressed with him at the next Uncle Leon and the Alibis show.
